The Department of History was started along with establishment of M. M. Jagtap college. Mahad has been a place of historical importance and Late Mr. Manik Jagtap, former MLA from Mahad and also the President of the organisation, understood this. Due to his affinity towards the subject, he was determined on starting the department.

The course comprises of six papers over 3 individual years of studies. The workload of studies is distributed over 21 lectures per week.

The syllabus consists of History of Modern India for First year, History of Mediveal India for Second year and History of Modern India, Mediveal India, Ancient History and Introduction to Archeology for Third year.

Capital of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaja’s Swarajya, Raigad Fort, is situated in Mahad Taluka alongside the ancient port of River Savitri which might have been the cause for creation of Buddhist Caves at Gandharpale. Dr. B. A. Ambedkar did his Satyagraha at the famous Chavdar Tale lake located in the heart of Mahad city which has also been a place of importance in the Independence struggle of India. Such a Taluka that has a rich ancient, medieval as well as modern history will help student for project  which has been allotted 20 marks in their curriculum.

A place with rich history makes it easier for teachers to create excitement among the students in the subject and helps them to gain deeper understanding in the history of the place.

Aim

To create a deeper understanding of independence, equality, fraternity, nationalism and democratic values is the motive of  the department of History.

Objective

To help students study history and guide them through observations and conclusions to create a better understanding of the modern world.

प्रस्तावना

महाविद्यालयाची स्थापना 2009 मध्ये झाली असून या 2009-10 या शैक्षणिक वर्षात मराठी विभाग सुरू करण्यात आला. महाड आणि आजूबाजूच्या परिसरातील बहुतांश विद्यार्थी हे ग्रामीण भागातील असल्याने मराठी भाषिक विद्यार्थ्यांसाठी मराठी भाषा वृद्धिंगत होण्यासाठी या विषयाची निकड जाणून मराठी हा विषय अनिवार्य असून देखील मराठी ऐच्छिक हा विषय महाविद्यालयात सुरू करण्यात आला.

आजच्या आधुनिक युगात इंग्रजी, फ्रेंच, जपानी यांसारख्या परदेशी भाषांना महत्त्व प्राप्त होत असताना संतश्रेष्ठ ज्ञानेश्वरांनी म्हटल्याप्रमाणे ‘अमृता तेही पैजा जिंके’ म्हणणारी आपली मराठी भाषेस उन्नत अवस्था प्राप्त करून देण्यास महाविद्यालयातील मराठी विभाग कटिबद्ध आहे.

जागतिकीकरण ,खाजगीकरण, आणि उदारमतवादी धोरण असलेल्या आजच्या आधुनिक काळात मराठी भाषेत अत्याधुनिक तंत्रज्ञानाच्या वापराची गरज निर्माण झाली आहे. यासाठी वेळोवेळी या तंत्रज्ञानाचा विद्यार्थ्यांस अध्ययन आणि अध्यापन करताना मराठी विभागाकडून केला जातो.

तृतीय वर्षासाठी मराठी विषयाच्या तीन अभ्यास पत्रिकांचे अध्यापन केले जाते. प्राचीन मराठी साहित्य ग्रामीण मराठी यांसोबत विद्यार्थ्यांच्या भाषिक कौशल्य वृद्धिंगत करणे हे महाविद्यालयाकडून सातत्याने सुरू असते. याबद्दल उपलब्ध असलेल्या साहित्याची अवांतर वाचनाची पुस्तके उपलब्ध करून दिली जातात.विद्यार्थ्यांच्या मराठी भाषेच्या विकासासाठी महाविद्यालय सतत प्रयत्नशील असते. यासाठी महाविद्यालयात एकांकिका, निबंध, वक्तृत्व इत्यादी विषयावर स्पर्धांचे आयोजन केले जाते. निबंध, अनुवाद, भाषांतर, मुद्रित शोधन या विषयाची तयारी करून घेऊन त्याचे सादरीकरण वर्गामध्ये केले जाते.मराठी भाषेत अभिजात दर्जा मिळावा यासाठी आपण प्रयत्नशील असूच परंतु भाषेत जागतिक दर्जा मिळणे यासाठी हा विभाग प्रयत्नशील आहे.

उद्दिष्टे:-

1. भाषेत  असणारी प्रादेशिक भाषा (बोलीभाषा) देखील जपणे गरजेचे व त्यांचे महत्त्व निर्माण करणे.
2. मराठी भाषेतील दर्जेदार साहित्य उपलब्ध करून देणे.
3. शैक्षणिक, सामाजिक , सांस्कृतिक जीवन  मराठी भाषा व वाडमय याविषयी  जाण निर्माण  करणे.

ध्येय

1. मराठी भाषेचे महत्व पटणारी पिढी निर्माण करणे.
2. मराठी भाषेबद्दलचे प्रेम अभिमान आदर निर्माण करून संशोधनात्मक दृष्टी निर्माण होणे यासाठी प्रयत्नशील असणे.

The Department of Urdu was established in 2009-10. The Department’s main objective is to spread awareness about literary and cultural importance and relevance of the Urdu culture, language and literature in India and around the world. It aims to promote the Urdu language as the language of knowledge, and Urdu literature as the literature of values especially human values that can withstand the buffeting forces of time. It aims at carrying out original research to develop the field of knowledge. The Department offers M.A. in Urdu, The thrust research areas of the Department are: The Study of Modern Culture, Language & Literature, Deccani Language, Culture and Literature, Linguistics, Translation and new approaches in the field of literary criticism.

The Department of Urdu has created a for over all development of the students of the department.
