Introduction:-

The Department of Commerce promotes job creation, economic growth, sustainable development, and improved living standards for all Americans by working in partnership with businesses, universities, communities, and workers. The Department is committed to integrate all facets of commerce and management to educate and train innovative and competent human resource globally suitable for industry, business and service sector and to equip and encourage them to start their own ventures in urban or rural areas benefitting both the classes and masses.

Vision :-

Overall development of student’s personality to fit into the globe challenging and new issues business environment.

Mission :-

Motivate students to participate in Research work, seminars, workshops, competitions, projects, Industrial visits, Case studies and other activities to boost their confidence and mould their personality to become employable commerce graduate.

Goals and Objectives :-

  • To provide knowledge in different areas of commerce and business.
  • To generate graduates/ Researcher with practical exposure.
  • To develop their communication skills and writing.
  • To assist them in pursuing higher and professional studies and Research work .
  • To increase the local and globe employability of the students.
  • To consolidate, strengthen and update the existing programmes.
  • To expand and diversify to cover the frontier areas by introducing newly certain innovative academic programmes.
  • To keep regular interaction with business and industry with the help of establishment of chairs and entering into MOUs
  • To introduce professional courses, short-term, long-term on need based.
  • To undertake extension and consultancy activities.
  • To adopt latest educational technology such as use of computer, internet, online learning and teaching process etc.

Activities of Commerce Department :-

  • The students are classified into three categories based on their entry level marks, their participation in the classroom discussion and interaction with the faculty members, as slow learners, medium learners and advanced learners. The students who join at the F.Y.B.Com. Level is basically from vernacular medium and not up to the mark in the communication skills, a continuous effort is made in the classroom and outside to motivate the students to overcome this drawback and improve their personality. The activity conducted by the Commerce Department goes a long way in improving the confidence of the students.
  • Many of the students are from financially weak background and most of them are aspiring first time graduates in the family, so a sincere effort is made not to drive away the students from the classroom but to make the atmosphere student friendly.
  • The students are motivated and encouraged to pursue their studies even after graduation.
  • Research activities are being pursued mainly in the areas of management such as project management, marketing management and rural development etc.
  • The overall performance of the students is monitored through tutorials, term end examinations, preliminary examinations, paper presentations, question-answer sessions, quiz competitions, extra lecturers, group discussions, Case studies, etc.
  • The teachers update themselves through attending seminars, workshops, interaction with fellowship members and industry, guiding projects prepared by students, reading magazines, journals, periodicals, reference books, newspapers etc.
  • The commerce Department of our college exists from the year 2009-10 onwards and is responsible in shaping and molding the overall personality of our students. It conducts various activities and competitions like quiz, debate, elocution, Ad-marketing, group discussion etc. It organizes a one day workshop titled ‘How to be a Smart Investor” in the stock market on topic like Financial management, Banking management, etc. It also arranges industrial visits for the students.
  • Ad-marketing to encourage the talent of the students in advertising and marketing a product. It helps in enhancing creativity amongst the students.
  • Debate to develop the debating ability on current business topics.
  • Elocution to encourage expression of thought on commerce related topics
  • Group discussion to encourage leadership qualities and communication skills.
  • General quiz to motivate the students to update their knowledge.
  • Students from the department are sponsored by the college and sent for workshops in other colleges.
  • We have entered into a memorandum of understanding for Basic Computer Skill with CAT Centre Mangaon to start certificate and diploma courses in our college in collaboration with them. Emerging areas like Basic computer, Hardware, software management are to be tapped for the benefit of the students.
  • We have liaison with Local co-operatives banks and other companies and we organize expert lectures and provide guidance about placement opportunities to our students.
  • Teaching in the classroom is through traditional lecture method and also with modern techniques like O.H.P., L.C.D. presentation etc.
  • Students are motivated to take up the projects of relevant topics and present a report.
  • Every year an expert lecture series is conducted for the T.Y.B.Com. Students in which experts from various colleges are invited to guide our students on various topics concerned with their university examination. Every year a Parent-teacher meeting is organized for T.Y.B.Com. Students to have an interaction between parents, teachers and students with a view to improving the performance and confidence of the students.
  • The members of the Department of Commerce are active members of various committees at college level.

 

FUTURE PLANS OF DEPARTMENT :-

We are planning

  • To start P.G. Centre,asM.Com in near future.
  • To establish Research Centreincommerce.
  • To start self-financing post graduate courses/programmes in the area of commerce.
  • To start students need bases value added vocational certificate and diploma courses in the area of commerce.
  • To use more of ICT in teaching and learning process.
  • To guide students in developing entrepreneurial skills.
  • To increase in Involvement of students in Research Based Activities.
  • To organize State,National,University level conference, seminars. Workshop etc.
  • To increase the industry interactions.
  • To undertake the research project based on the needs of local society.

Department of Accountancy

Vision :-

Overall development of student’s personality to fit into the challenging  practical Accounting and financial  world.

Mission :-

  1. Motivate students to participate in Research work, financial projects, Industrial visits, Case studies, and other activities to boost their confidence.
  2. To mold their personality to become employable in Financial, Costing banking, and auditing areas.

Goals and Objectives :-

  • To provide knowledge in different areas of Accountancy and Auditing.
  • To make students understand the basic concepts of Principle of Accountancy.
  • To generate awareness amongst students about Banking System.
  • To organize Industrial visits, surveys and to understand the basic concepts of practical Accounting.
  • To motivate and inspire students to opt. for courses in accountancy like C.A., I.C.W.A., M.B.A., D.T.L. etc.
  • To enhance knowledge of the faculty by motivating them to participate in seminars, workshops, conferences, symposia etc.
  • To encourage the faculty for faculty development.

Department Of Business Economics

Vision :-

  • Economics for the welfare of society.

Mission :-

  • To make the students aware of economics responsive for changing in privatization, liberalization and globalization environment.

Goals and Objectives :-

  • To make students understand the basic concepts of Economics.
  • To generate awareness amongst students about changing environment in global economy.
  • To organize field visits, surveys and to understand the basic theories of Economics in practical world.
  • To motivate and inspire students to undertake projects on various Economics issues of local and global area.
  • To enhance knowledge of the faculty by motivating them to participate in seminars, workshops, conferences, symposia etc.
  • To encourage the faculty for faculty development
